Our post-IAIA08 tour to the Pilbara region of Western Australia had the potential of being the trip of a lifetime: a 4500km loop around one of the most remote and unique regions of Australia, the Pilbara. If you’re from a small country, the 2000kms needed to get to the Pilbara were mind boggling. “Two thousand kilometers, that means I would end up in X country if I went that far at home!” It’s the kind of distance you travel in a plane! But then again, in a plane, you do not see what it’s all about, you do not understand the way you do once you see it and live it.
The sights promised to be unique and awe-inspiring, but the daring adventurers who had signed up had also been warned: the accommodations will be Spartan and the distances travelled will put your patience to the test, so be ready.
